Bird of Paradise & Self-watering Pot

The Bird of Paradise is as close as a living room gets to the tropics. Native to South Africa, it sends up huge paddle-shaped leaves on tall stems, and it grows with real ambition. Give it room and it will use it.

It's a sun worshipper, so place it in your brightest spot, ideally near a south-facing window. Best kept away from nibbling pets, as the leaves are toxic to cats and dogs.

This one arrives planted into a self-watering insert, sitting inside the Elho Vibes pot. Made in Holland from recycled plastic, the pot does the remembering for you. Fill the reservoir and your plant drinks exactly what it needs, when it needs it.

One thing to know - your plant travels dry. When it arrives, fill the reservoir and give the soil a light water from the top. That's its first drink at home, and from then on you'll only need to top up the reservoir every few weeks.
